ID-Cooling Auraflow 240 Liquid Cooler Review

A Closer Look

The pump-block has a pre-installed Intel bracket, but AMD owners need not fear as an adaptor is included. For Intel owners though, this is always a fantastic shortcut. The block is a somewhat usual circular design and as you might have already guessed the ID-Cooling logo and exterior circle does have lighting effects once fitted.

The copper contact plate is fantastically huge. This should allow for perfect contact with your processor to ensure the best heat distribution possible. Unlike some AIO systems, this does not have thermal paste pre-applied, but a tube of their own brand is included in the accessories to ensure you’re good to fit this straight out the box.

Fan and Radiator

The radiator is a fairly standard design. Given the job that they are supposed to do though, you rarely see any great variety in layout. It does have a quite prominent ID-Cooling logo to the side which is quite a smart choice. We often see companies put branding on the top, but once the fans are fitted, it’s practically hidden. Therefore, putting it on the side is smart, and it’s one of the few places on there that you might still be able to see after it’s installed in your system.

The cooler comes supplied with 2 x ID-Cooling fans. The fans have a nice angular design and I always like it when the fans extend beyond the mounting points. Both fans, of course, include RGB lighting which we will show you in its full glory in the video below. It is a minor point, but it’s always mildly annoying to me though when they don’t mount the stickers squared to the set fan positions. It’s that little touch that can make the presentation so much better.

The fan installation it quite simple with 4 screws to each corner and once fitted, even when turned off, it looks impressive. Another minor point, but I do wish that sometimes they could take the effort to colour the screws to match the mounting. It is again another one of those little additions that can make all the presentation difference. The stainless steel screws add nothing to the overall look.

RGB Lighting

What is a cooler these days without all the colours of the rainbow to dazzle you into submission? In this case, the ID-Cooling Auraflow 240 is no exception. With lighting to both the pump-head and the fans with a plethora of colours on display, if you’re a fan of the snazzy systems, then this will be some eye-candy for you.

I am, however, a firm believer that if a picture speaks a thousand words, then a video must speak a million. As such we have included below a short demonstration of the fans doing their job. Unfortunately, the cooler doesn’t come with a manual control switch for the lighting effects and as such I could only show you the default range.
