Innergie mCube Slim Power Adapter Review

A Closer Look
There are many different products in the Innergie range, including small, slim, lite, and mini versions. This particular products is part of the “Slim” range and measures in at 100x57x18mm and weighs 150g.

When you compare the dimensions and weight of this product to a standard power adapter, it measures up a lot smaller and is also quite comparable in terms of weight.

Being a small product gives it a certain edge over the competition as it enables transporting it a lot easier, therefore making it perfect for travelling with.

The style of the adapter is similar to what we find on an Apple-based product and features a crisp white design. It also incorporates the Innergie logo embossed into the top and includes a power indicator light.

The bottom of the unit gives information on the AC/DC levels including the max power. The information shown tells us that the unit can supply a maximum of 65W at 15-21V.

One end of the adapter features the AC input connector for plugging in the supplied AC input cable.

The other end features the DC output connector, voltage range switch and USB 5V connector. The voltage range switch gives the choice of 15-17V or 18-21V of which your chosen product should give information as to which voltage it needs. A laptop for instance generally shows the voltage on the bottom of the unit of which our Acer Aspire 5633WLMI did. Once you have clarified which voltage you need, you can proceed to adjust the voltage switch as needed. If you are using 15-17V, you will find the power indicator light will glow green whereas 18-21V will make it glow blue.

The AC input connector is for plugging in the supplied mains plug adapter which sadly is for the European market, but we did have a UK cable available.

The DC output connector is for plugging in the DC cable which on the other end features the multi-purpose tip adapter. This is for use with changing the tips for your specified device.

As stated earlier on, the device comes supplied with 10 different tips of which are supported by the main industry leading manufacturer’s such as Acer, Asus, Dell and IBM Lenovo.

The user guide includes a table of which tips are for which brands, as you can see below:

One fantastic feature that Innergie have included is that part of their service includes tip cover. This will enable you to contact Innergie for the correct tip for your device if it’s not supplied with the product. The tip is free of charge but the customer will be liable to pay for any shipping costs. Bearing this in mind, this should still give excellent value over a competitor’s rival product.

A nice little added touch from Innergie is the added travel pouches, of which one is for the tips, and the other for the power adapter and cables. The pouch for the tips uses a soft, silk-like material with drawstrings to keep things in place, whilst the bigger pouch for the adapter can only be described to look like a pencil case. It includes two compartments (one at each end) and is fastened using zips and features the Innergie logo on a little tab.
