Jaguar Land Rover Halts Production Due to Chip Shortages

Jaguar Land Rover

It’s well documented at the moment that the global chipset shortage is certainly having a significant impact on a number of major companies and manufacturers. Something perhaps most keenly felt by the tech community, specifically when looking for a new processor or graphics card. – Following a report via SkyNews, however, in something of a very shocking announcement, Jaguar Land Rover has confirmed that they have completely halted production at two of their biggest UK plants because, yes, they’ve run out of chips!

Jaguar Land Rover Halts Production!

In announcing the news, Jaguar Land Rover has issued the following statement:

“Like other automotive manufacturers, we are currently experiencing some COVID-19 supply chain disruption, including the global availability of semi-conductors, which is having an impact on our production schedules and our ability to meet global demand for some of our vehicles.

As a result, we have adjusted production schedules for certain vehicles which means that our Castle Bromwich and Halewood manufacturing plants will be operating a limited period of non-production from Monday 26th April.”

What Do We Think?

As per the statement, although Jaguar Land Rover should be looking towards resuming production on Monday, having the lines shut down for around a week is not good news for the company. Such a move isn’t just a short-term inconvenience, it can take several months to get everything back on track. Not to mention, of course, the disruption this will cause their assembly line workers. So, while Jaguar might currently still be relatively easy to come by (presuming you have that kind of cash), you might shortly find that they might start getting as difficult and rare as graphics cards.
