KFA2 GeForce GTX 760 EX OC 2GB 2-way SLI Review

SLI articles are always tricky as everyone wants to see raw compute power but on the same hand, we have to be sensible, which trust me; we don’t like doing. We have to think about price and while we’d love to put Titan’s into SLI, the typical customer going out and actually buying them is few and far between, but for a model like the GTX 760, it’s a completely different story.

The KFA2 GTX 760 EX OC cards that we used today retail for £209.99, and to go back to our charts and see them at the top of our results across every test, we can compare them to the GTX Titan and GTX 780 cards in their own right and with the GTX 780 priced at £550 and the GTX Titan coming in at well over £800, the GTX 760’s that we had in SLI today clearly offer better value for money, and while this could be a shot in the foot for Nvidia, it may actually be their plan all along and I’ll explain why.

Cards like the GTX Titan are to show off what a company can do and the only way I can describe it is to think of the Bugatti Veyron. A car that lost money and cost an absolute fortune to manufacture, and that is what Titan is, whereas Nvidia knew they would sell a lot more of the lower models, like the GTX 760, and with the drivers being improved and offering better scaling than ever, you can clearly see that buying two GTX 760 EX OC’s from KFA2 will give you the pre-factory overclock out of the box, while also offering fantastic scaling and leaving some pennies in the bank, with a total price of £420 for the two, giving it amazing value for money.

The only downside is the power consumption, but even then on our X79 based system, at its highest point of load, it only managed to draw 421 Watts from the wall, for the whole system, which is pretty damn impressive to say the least.

Pros

  • Fantastic performance
  • Great scaling in SLI
  • Unique design
  • High performance overclock straight out of the box
  • Fantastic value compared to the competition
  • Even on an X79 system, the power usage was low

Cons

  • None

eTeknix Says: The GTX 760 EX OC from KFA2 is a fantastic card as it is, but when you pair it with a second card in SLI with thanks to Nvidia’s drivers offering better than ever scaling, we find the GTX 760’s in SLI offering the best performance we’ve ever seen, and with a fantastic price to boot, it deserves to be awarded for its value for money aspect.
