Kingston HyperX Genesis 2133MHz Memory Kit Review

Final Thoughts
This is the second set of Sandybridge based memory that we’ve had a chance to look at lately, with the first being from G.Skill and whilst we were happy with the way that performed, we were keen to see how the Kingston compared.

the look of the memory is nothing out of the ordinary but does have a slightly improved colour scheme compared to the standard blue heatspreaders that Kingston have sported for quite a while now. By being a grey/platinum colour, it makes any system easier to look at and matches in with most components, whereas blue heatspreaders could lead to some colour issues, but this really is a personal preference based off the rest of your system and if you actually care what it all looks like.

We can happily say that the Kingston memory performed much in the same way as the G.Skill we looked at a couple of weeks ago, giving some very similar results throughout the testing phase and also giving exactly the same overclock, but with a slightly different set of timings.

This shows that Kingston still have the right idea and still have a rightful place in the memory market. It also shows the capability of what’s to come in terms of memory offering fantastic performance for the Sandybridge platform.

The only real factor left in our eyes would be price and at around £85, it is slightly more expensive than competitors but is a product that should last your system a while without the need for more speed as you already have some of the fastest memory on the market from one of the greatest memory manufacturer’s in the world.

Pros:

  • Blistering fast performance
  • Reliable manufacturer
  • Lifetime warranty
  • Great overclocking potential
  • Tight timings

Cons:

  • More expensive than rival products
