Lian Li Alpha 550 RGB Tempered Glass Chassis Review

A Closer Look – Interior

The interior of the Alpha 550 is stunning and comes finished in the same black as the exterior for a nice flowing design. There’s a small Lian Li logo placed on the lovely PSU cover too.

While there is some ventilation here, there’s also a large routing grommet at the back for routing motherboard cables. There’s a larger opening at the front too, which can be used for pass-through of the GPU power cables.

This multi-function bracket could be used for storage devices. However, it’s designed to handle all kinds of water cooling pumps/reservoirs too.

Amazing Cooling Support

The front of the chassis has a vast amount of space for fans and radiators. However, it would almost be criminal to deprive the 550 of those gorgeous RGB fans.

They look great powered off, but wait till you see them powered on!

Those wanting 120/140mm spaced fans or radiators up top won’t be left out either. There’s plenty of room up there, as well as another huge dust filter for easy maintenance.

The rear fan is a stealthy looking black fan. Perhaps another RGB fan would be nice here, but this is more a functional bit of kit than for show.

Impressive Cable Routing

Behind the motherboard, there’s possibly even more features around here! There’s a huge CPU cooler mounting cut-out, as well as a large hole for mounting your motherboard 8-pin cable.

Cable management gets a big assist with this large cover panel. Two thumb screws unlock it at the top, allowing you to pull it down. You can route all your cables through to the other side, lock the panel back in place, and keep everything looking neat! Of course, there are also screw mounts here to mount a few HDD’s, so it’s a nice double function bit of hardware.

Tucked into the corner, you’ll find the RGB/Fan controller. This is already pre-wired with the included fans, but you could easily substitute your own.

Lurking below the PSU shroud, you’ll find two tool-free 3.5″ HDD bays. Of course, if you want to remove it, you can, which would free up room for other cooling hardware or anything else you desire.

Finally, we have two more removable brackets, which would be perfect for mounting a few SSDs behind the motherboard.
