Lian Li SP750 750W SFX Power Supply Review

Efficiency

Being an officially ‘Gold’ rated efficiency power supply, the Lian Li SP750 sets the bar pretty high in terms of what it had to achieve in our testing. Particularly so for managing to get this level of performance out of an SFX design. – In something hugely surprising, however, (not that we ever doubted Lian Li couldn’t pull this off), not only does it easily hit that remit, but it does so by an absolutely huge margin.

As can be seen in our results below, the Lian Li SP750 managed an average efficiency rating of around 94%. Put simply, this definitely has it fall in line with the significantly higher ‘Platinum’ tier. And its not just placing one foot on that ground either, it firmly has both feet planted!

PFC (Power Factor Correction)

The PFC for the Lian Li SP750 was equally as impressive as the efficiency testing as the results provided in our testing are notably high, and particularly so at 20% load where (usually) the vast majority of even fully-sized power supplies usually get off to a little bit of a rough start. – Hitting 0.973 at 100% load, it doesn’t exactly require a calculator to see that this is exceptionally close to the practically impossible perfect score of 1.

Voltage Regulation

Throughout pretty much all of our testing, the voltage regulation provided by this power supply was amazingly consistent. As you can see in the results below, by and large the overall average deviancy was exceptionally low, meaning that, regardless of how hard or easy you ask this power supply to work, the rails are getting solid levels of power delivery at all time.

The only factor that did raise a mild eye-brow was the notably low scores provided on the -12V rail when at low power output. On the whole, however, this doesn’t concern us for two key reasons. Firstly, as soon as it was asked to work harder, the results quickly ramped up to an acceptable level. Secondly, the -12V rail isn’t heavily utilized anymore on modern PC systems. In fact, it’s almost becoming borderline redundant. As such, while this individual result isn’t great, on the whole, we can’t say that it really matters in the grand scheme of things.
