Fan Speed

In something that is seemingly becoming a relatively new ‘standard’ for power supply designs, the Lian Li SP750 does not have a manual ‘hybrid’ fan control function. It has, instead, been built into the design meaning that (at least on paper) when the power output is below 40%, the PSU should be good enough to run passively. Put simply, if the cooling fan isn’t running, the overall system noise levels drop (which is good).

So, is this claim correct? Our results below clearly show that it is, as while the fan did run from 60%-100%, at 40% and below it stopped. More so though, despite hitting a relatively high RPM at 100%, it was still notably quiet and, as such, if low acoustic output is one of the key features in your system design, this power supply definitely puts a big tick in that box!
