The sensor performance is something Logitech are keen to show off here, and first impressions were certainly impressive, with 400DPI giving super smooth and jitter free results. There’s no lag, no acceleration and certainly no angle snapping.
Still silky smooth at 800, no problems here.
OK, now it’s getting hard to tell if the DPI is actually being increased, but take my word for it, it’s just that smooth! Already the G502 is showing it’s going to be great for gaming and professional work such as photo editing.
It was getting a little tricky to draw smaller here, but again, this is simply incredible performance.
OK, now we’re into territory where most mice would be all but unusable for this kind of drawing, but the G502 excels yet again. There is the smallest bit of jitter here, but this is still jaw-droppingly smooth.
Even at 12000 DPI I’m able to draw with quite a lot of precision, if there are any major sensor performance issues, we would have seen them several tests ago. I’ve never seen anything this consistent in any other mouse I’ve ever tested.
The Logitech Gaming Software is nicely designed, giving you a clear diagram of the mouse and a quick and easy toolbar at the bottom.
You can set multiple profiles, with multiple sensor configurations per profile, so you should always have the one you need just a click or two away. The level can be dropped as low as 200, or set all the way up to a blisteringly fast 12,000. It’s unlikely that many will need such a high DPI setting, but it’s surprisingly smooth to use and handy for 4K resolutions and above when you need super fast navigation of a large gaming map.
You can click on any switch you wish to customise, applying a range of shortcuts, keys, macros and more to each. Setting up a few profiles for work and various games couldn’t be easier and it means you can go from copy+paste macros to something better suited to a MOBA game at the tap of a button.
Easily configurable lighting effects, even if it is only the G logo and the DPI readout.
The mouse comes pre-tuned to work best on Logitech gaming surfaces, but you can add your own easily enough.
Just follow the on-screen prompts and you’re good to go. I took this moment to test the lift-off height, it’s certainly lower than 1mm.
There’s even performance tracking allowing you to monitor your KPM and heat map; a handy feature for competitive gamers.
