Over 20 Million people have now registered on the Minecraft.net website, with 4.66 Million of them having bought the game.
To be more specific, as of the time Mojang Founder Notch posted on his blog:
Of the 20,121,024 Minecraft users, 4,667,176 people have bought the game.
The free users are given access to a long outdated and limited Minecraft Classic mode, playable on the website. Only the paying users get the full game and updates.
Interestingly, according to Notch, it would take 4 liters a day, for a million years, to drink a liquidized form of the registered users. Fun. Better get started.
