Mionix Introduces Wei RGB LED Mechanical Keyboard 1

Mionix is announcing the launch of their new mechanical gaming keyboard called WEI. Like most premium mechanical gaming keyboards these days, the Mionix keyboard features full RGB LED backlighting. Although the WEI’s design leans towards the contemporary and mature, rather than an aggressively styled “gamer” gear.

The Mionix WEI is going to be available in a variety of different layouts. This includes US, Nordic, French, UK, German and Japanese. Other than the RGB lighting, the top of the keyboard uses aluminium while the base has rubber coating. This ensures total grip on the desk while the aluminum provides durability and a nice metal surface for light to bounce on.The

The keyboard uses authentic Cherry MX red switches and these are mounted on the aluminum plate with the base exposed. This means more of the RGB LED lighting can flow out. The keycaps are interchangeable with other Cherry MX mount compatible caps. MIONIX does provide their own set of colorful keycaps, available in three different colors. This includes  Ice Cream (powder blue), Frosting (rose), and French Fries (light yellow) colors.

Launch Trailer

It seems that Mionix took cues from the Skittles marketing department because the launch video is quite random and crazy.

The Mionix WEI is available now for €179 directly via Mionix.io/wei. It is also available via Amazon.com for $159 USD, with each colorful keycap set priced at $39.

The French, UK and Japanese layout options are currently unavailable at this time however.
