Overclocking

VEGA 64 overclocking is a bit of a tough affair, with power requirements and heat proving troublesome for worthwhile gains. That’s not an issue for the GTX 1070 Ti. This card is like the sporty two-seater weekend drive, it just wants you to rag that engine for all that it’s worth. I hit an exceptionally good +190 MHz on the GPU Boost Clock and an equally impressive +430 MHz on the memory. The card could go higher if you can get into a little fine tuning with voltages, but for the consumers out there, at least 180 on the core, and at least 400 on the memory should be a few clicks away.

Cool Under Pressure

What’s interesting is that heat was no an issue, the card didn’t get much about mid 60c. Power is the issue, with artifacts kicking in at 200 MHz on the GPU, and 340 on the memory. A little more volts would do, but that’s an enthusiast trick that few consumers will need to worry about. The art of diminishing returns will soon come into play also. That overclock was enough to beat out a factory overclocked 1080, and it was just three points, THREE! behind the 11 Gbps edition of the GTX 1080 too. Simply amazing.
