MSI GTX 670 Twin Frozr Power Edition OC 2GB Review

Looking back over the GTX 670 Power Edition, it’s a great welcome addition to see a card that fits in the middle of the current card ranges, giving the balance between performance and price. Bar the change from yellow to blue on the strip that runs along the card, we do see virtually identical styling on the Twin Frozr cooler as we have seen on other MSI cards and this goes along with the age old idiom of ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’.
Whilst the cooler’s design aesthetically has not really changed, the thermal and acoustic performance with version IV of the cooler certainly has had a notable gain and given what we have already seen from MSI, we have seen some of the cooler’s best results to date.
The main area we have to give this card credit, where it’s due, is on its overclocking capabilities. We often find that when vendors release an overclocked card, there is no real need to push it even further as they have already hit that ‘sweet spot’ in performance with any faster speeds resulting in either worthless gains or a dip in performance. This card however appears not to be quite at its peak of potential performance and that is understandable considering that this is not a Lightning edition, but from what we’ve seen, it may be worth considering this card and then overclocking it to get a bit more performance for your money and also to take it more towards the performance zone of the GTX 680.
So on the note of performance for your money, how does this option fair? Well we do have to admit that there is a limited bundle with only power and display adaptors included along side the product guide, but for around the £300 mark, whilst you don’t get a lot in terms of bundle in the box, there are a lot of features on the card itself along with its overclocking performance that clock for clock give it an excellent standing against other options on the market.
Bottom line, the GTX 670 has never been a card to disappoint us and we consider it one of the better options on the top end of NVIDIA’s lineup and this is truce to that. MSI’s offering today is a great product and one that we would strongly recommend.
