MSI Optix MAG272CQR Gaming Monitor Review

A Closer Look

In the box, you’ll find a two-part stand. It’s got a really good quality feel to it too, heavy-duty, and very nicely finished with a brushed metal look. There’s also a small bag of screws for fitting an optional wall mounting plate.

The back part of the stand features a height adjustment slider, as well as a small cable routing cut-out.

The back of the monitor looks fantastic. There’s an MSI logo in the corner, and a glossy designed stripe right across the back. If your PC is against a wall, you won’t see this. However, if you have a more open desktop design, it’s good that the monitor looks stylish from all sides.

The monitor stand mounts on the back easily enough, two pegs at the top, and two screws at the bottom. Like I said, easy.

For connectivity, you’ll find a pair of HDMI ports, a DisplayPort, and USB Type-C, giving you plenty of options for hooking it up. There’s a USB pass-through, offering up two USB 3.0 ports, and a headphone jack should you need it.

Built-up, the monitor looks pretty fantastic. It features a gentle 1500R curve that gives it a nice FOV. I typically don’t like the whole curved thing, but this one is subtle enough that it works well for the 27-inch panel.

The stand looks great and doesn’t protrude too much in front of the screen, so it’s unlikely to conflict with your keyboard and mouse.

A nice little sticker telling you what you’ve bought. Honestly, I’d hope you haven’t forgotten by the time you got to unboxing it, but at least you can remove it.

You can drop the monitor down quite a bit, and it has a slight bit of forward-tilt. However, it does not turn from left to right, you would have to move the stand too to do this.

The maximum height is pretty decent though, and it can be tilted back a fair bit. Plus, it feels incredibly stable even at the maximum height.
