As I said before, you have three options for this system. The Intel i3, i5, or the i7, which is the one I reviewed today. The Core i7 model is £899.00 on Amazon right now, while the i3 is a bargain at just £649.00. Unfortunately, I couldn’t see the i5 model on there, but given the £150 price gap, I’d guess it would be slap bang in the middle.
While that price may seem a little bit expensive, think about what you’re buying here. You’re getting the monitor, the PSU, the full PC and Windows 10, all crammed into a lovely form factor of the monitor its self. That means no mini cube PC to tuck away somewhere, not tower on the floor, etc. If you’re short on space, or even just want a cleaner looking setup in general, it’s pretty awesome.
There’s a lot of consumers out there who, if I’m being somewhat polite, haven’t got a clue about setting up a computer. This is great for that market, as it really was plug and play. If I’ve got ten staff in the office that all need a workstation that can run typical work applications, it’s even better, as it’s so easy to deploy and takes up so little space. The power requirements are basically nothing compared to a desktop system too, which also means lower noise and heat. Again, that might not excite the PC gaming enthusiasts out there, but it matters to a lot of people.
I’m really impressed with it, it’s such a clean and stylish product to work with. Even as a monitor, I think it looks pretty premium, and the slim bezel is very appealing. The weight of the whole thing doesn’t really suggest it contains a whole PC either, it’s pretty lightweight overall. There’s a good quality cooling solution built-in too. It does have a fan, but the only time I heard it humming away was while running CineBench. For daily tasks, it’s silent, making it great for quiet study areas and workplaces.
While it may not be a performance monster, it was never designed to be. It’s slim, light, quiet, compact, and stylish. That’s not a bad CV for any product really. I think the price is pretty decent for what it is too, it’s not cheap, but it’s quite a specific market too. If you want more performance for the money, then you’re going to need a more power-hungry and much bigger solution like a desktop PC. I’m impressed with the fast storage and the connectivity too, it’s just a joy to use on a daily basis.
