Graphics Cards

MSI Radeon RX 6600 XT Gaming X Review

The PC gaming market has been taking a bit of a beating over the last two years. Getting graphics cards into the hands of gamers has been a nightmare. Even once you get past the scalpers and the miners, the pandemic has caused production issues, and global shipping and manufacturing prices are higher than ever. While you may have been able to afford a 1440p focused card two years ago, the reality is that may have to be a 1080p focused card in 2021 and 2022. Thankfully, the new MSI Radeon RX 6600 XT graphics card is here, and while it’s not bleeding edge performance, it’s not exactly lacking either, offering a great entry point for new PC gamers, or those desperate for any kind of card to upgrade much older hardware.

It comes equipped with 8GB of GDDR6 memory, and a modest factory overclock. All this is cooled by the superb TORX Fan 4.0 dual fan configuration over a robust heatsink design. While this isn’t going to be a particularly hot or noisy card to begin with, a quality cooler will ensure it can maintain the top clock speeds and get every ounce of performance out of the chipset. You get other little perks too, such as some RGB lighting. However, it’s the core AMD technologies that’ll bring the most benefit to gamers. You get 32 Compute Units and Ray Accelerator, AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution, Smart Access Memory Technology, FreeSync and more!
