MSI Releases AI Gaming Desktops, a Regular Gaming PC With AI Slapped On The Name

AI has made some great leaps in the past few years, especially for the average consumer allowing us to create artwork with just a few words, or find the answers to various questions without having to dig through countless websites. Now there are some major negatives with AI but the one that is taking the hot seat today is AI in marketing, mostly with MSI’s new pre-built gaming PC which claims to be an AI gaming desktop, spoiler alert there is nothing new or AI about it.

MSI AI MEG Trident and Infinite X2 Gaming Desktops

MSI has released two new gaming desktops named the MEG Trident X2 and MEG Infinite X2, equipped with the newly released 14th gen Intel Core Processors including i7 and i9, and partnered up with an RTX 4090 graphics card. MSI makes quite a song and dance about the cooling system of these PCs but considering the hotboxes that they put them in with minimal front panel airflow I find it hard to believe any of it.

What is even harder to believe is that they’ve described the standard PWM features of the cooling system adjusting to the temperature of your hardware as AI. They’ve named it Frozr AI Cooling and is something that has been in PCs for ages as fan profiles and PWM profiles. Reading MSI’s information on it, all they did was use machine learning to create a fan curve so just an attempt to get on the trend of AI being a selling point but at least they haven’t claimed that they feature an AI chip like Lenovo’s Legion 9i.

They also claimed AI-generated content now achieves increased output speed compared to the previous generation which is just a fancy way of saying our computer is better than the last at doing this AI task which is still quite a niche market, did they forget that this is supposed to be a gaming desktop?

MEG Trident X2 14th: The AI Flagship Gaming Desktop

Additionally, HMI 2.0 provides control over MSI gaming monitors, enabling features such as Smart Crosshair, Optix Scope, Night Vision, and brightness adjustment, simplifying the gaming experience by eliminating the inconveniences of previous pop-up OSDs.

In the wireless network aspect, the MEG Trident X2 14th is equipped with the latest WiFi 7 wireless card, which offers network speeds that are 4.8 times faster than WiFi 6. This means that gamers no longer need to worry about network latency affecting their gaming experience.

Aside from featuring the latest AI technology, the MPG Infinite X2 14th incorporates the latest 14th gen Intel Core processors, RTX 4090, and a 240 mm AIO liquid cooling system optimized by Silent Storm Cooling 2 for system stability during high-load operations. The Infinite series emphasizes the gamer’s upgrade experience, allowing for tool-free removal of tempered glass on the side panel and enabling users to expand SSD capacity using EZ clips.
