Netflix Launches The Beta of Its Attempt at Cloud Gaming on TVs

Netflix has today announced that its attempt at cloud gaming is now launching in Beta on TVs.

Netflix Cloud Gaming

Netflix has been working on gaming since 2021 when it added mobile games to the video streaming app and today they are making their first step in cloud gaming technology starting with their TV app. They will be rolling out a limited beta test to a small number of beta testers in Canada and the UK on select TVs starting today and users on PC and Mac through Netflix.com in the coming weeks. This initial test will involve two games Oxenfree and Molehew’s Mining Adventure, a gem-mining arcade game. Users will play these games by using their mobile device as a controller.

Is Cloud Gaming The Future?

I’ve not yet tried out cloud gaming so I’ve not got much of a say here, but with its growing popularity, this could be something that keeps Netflix going with its recent drama over pricing increases and account sharing. Whether Netflix can offer a better service than the competition in the form of Microsoft and Nvidia is another concern here. Cloud gaming does have a solid place in our future though it does rely heavily on fast internet which is the make or break here.
