Nokia sold 4+ Million Windows Phones in Q4 of 2012

After months of loss-making which resulted in lay-offs and even mortgaging their main HQ, Nokia is finally showing signs that it is on long path to recovery.

The Finnish phone maker announced that it sold 4.4 Million Lumia phones with the Windows OS in Q4 of 2012. Most of the sales were due to their high-end phones, such as the Lumia 920 with the Windows 8 OS which sold through the top four carriers in the U.S.

There are some Symbian powered phones still selling as Nokia made sales of 2.2 Million Symbian handsets in the last quarter. 9.6 Million units were from the Asha series that was developed as a low-cost option for developing markets and those use Nokia’s proprietary bare-bone smartphone OS.

Nokia’s stocks jumped over 20% in early trading after this news broke.
