Nvidia’s new G-Sync technology looks set to revolutionise PC gaming, or at least it would if it were not currently tied to only ASUS monitors. For those eager to get their hands on the new technology, select system integrators will now be selling the monitors ahead of the expected release date.
The G-Sync equipped 23″ ASUS VG248QE has an extra feature that allows it to pair up with your GPU, adjusting its refresh rate on the fly to match that of the GPU, there by completely eliminating screen tearing without the added GPU processing strain of VSync.
Digital Storm are currently offering the panel and G-Sync module for just $499, but you can send in your own VG248QE and they’ll install the module for $299. A full list of available retailers can be seen on the Nvidia website. Early adopters are obviously paying extra, and it will be a while yet until a commercial integrated product is available, but when there is we expect prices will be reduced.
CES is just around the corner, so fingers crossed that Nvidia have some new tricks up their sleeves for G-Sync.
