Overclocking

Overclocking was quite impressive and we managed an extra 135MHz on the core with an extra 333MHz on the memory (1.332GHz effective). This works out to a 13% core clock boost and a 25% memory clock boost. Note that due to Nvidia restrictions we actually couldn’t go any further than 1155MHz in any overclocking utilities so the GPU may be stable at higher frequencies but you won’t be able to reach those on the reference board. Nvidia partners will be releasing models that take advantage of better power delivery and fewer restrictions so watch out for those. The actual performance boost we saw was a little more modest jumping from P5701 to P6292,. a 10.4% boost.

In this particular test the GTX 750 Ti cannot reach the R7 260X when overclocked but as we’ve already seen 3DMark11 seems to favour AMD cards much more than Nvidia ones. There is no doubt that in a wide variety of benchmarks the GTX 750 Ti overclocked beats out the R7 260X.
