Nvidia RTX 4070 Super Founders Edition Graphics Card Review

DLSS

One area where NVIDIA will of course have the upper hand is with AI upscaling, DLSS and more importantly with frame generation. For the sake of including some figures we took the RTX 4070, 4070 SUPER and 4070 Ti and tested in various scenarios with DLSS disabled, enabled and with Frame Generation turned on, to see what kind of gains could be had at 1440p where the 4070 SUPER is targeted towards.

It’s here in Cyberpunk where we can see, the already decent performance at 83 FPS is boosted as we enable DLSS, set to the balanced mode, now sitting at 118 FPS though to take it one step further, we can actually increase the performance by a staggering 108% when going from no upscaling to DLSS 3 with frame generation, which would put this miles ahead of the competition, and not that far away from the DLSS 3 performance of the 4070 Ti.

For Ray Tracing, before, we were sitting at a lowly 42 FPS, which is playable don’t get me wrong, but seeing a boost of 105% when enabling DLSS, again set to balanced, now sees us at 86 FPS on a $600 GPU at 1440p with the preset set to Ray Tracing Ultra, so not too shabby at all and again, not a million miles away from its bigger brother, the 4070 Ti. Again, Frame Gen takes that further still, with another 52% increase in performance, taking us just above 130 FPS.

To look at one more game, we booted up Hogwarts Legacy, which was already giving us solid performance at 91 FPS and with DLSS enabled to balanced, we managed to squeeze out another 70% more performance, though to go even further, at 183 FPS, DLSS 3 give us over 100% extra performance from the flick of a setting.

Again, looking at Ray Tracing where performance drops down to just 51 FPS, DLSS really does act as a godsend here with a 53% boost when enabling DLSS, or a larger 127% increase with frame generation enabled, so some pretty great numbers overall.
