NZXT H1 Case Review – A Super-Equipped Mini-ITX!

How Much Does it Cost?

NZXT has clearly put a lot of thought into the H1 mini-ITX design, and the engineering on it is just superb. They said they made a trade-off and many revisions in the design to find that balance between price, performance, size and design, and it certainly looks like they’ve got it right. At $349.99 it’s obviously an expensive mini-ITX PC case, but that’s not all you’re buying, is it!?

You get the NZXT M43 140mm AIO Liquid Cooler, and similar coolers from NZXT are still around £95-110 on Amazon. An NZXT 650W Gold PSU, that’s another £100 right there. Finally, the riser cable, that can be anything from £25-50 depending on the length and quality.

As a package deal that basically half-built already, it’s a pretty fantastic deal in my opinion.

Overview

There are so many elements to this case that I absolutely love. Firstly, it has to be the aesthetics, as many of us pick our PC cases based on their design first and their function second. Ultra crisp aesthetics, clean lines, heavily tinted glass, an all blacked out interior. If you put this on your desk, people are going to point out how great it looks.

Function

This case is certainly not all show and no go. As stylish as it is, they’ve still managed to make every aspect of it extremely focused and practical. When you take it out of the box, you don’t need tools to open it up. When you do, the PSU, cooler and riser cable are all neatly organised, cable routed, and attached, ready to rock. Drop-in your motherboard and components, hook up the GPU, and you’re ready to rock. You couldn’t ask for a better case.

Performance

Oh, it’s the “bundled hardware” is no excuse here, as NZXT have fitted quality components. The 140mm AIO is more than enough to chew through the latest CPUs, and the PSU will power the top graphics cards too, without breaking a sweat. What really nails it though is the dual-chamber airflow design. Everything gets its own clean air, helping make the most of the compact design.

Should I Buy One?

I’ve you’re still reading, I think you already decided you want one. The price may be making you twitch away, but stop and think. The components used here aren’t cheap, but you do get what you pay for, it’s quality from top to bottom. Furthermore, find me a case this stylish and compact, the try and find the exact PSU, cooler and other hardware that’ll fit with ease. The NZXT H1 Mini-ITX is the smarter choice, and I suspect I’ll be buying a few of these myself throughout the year. Best mini-ITX case ever? It just might be.
