NZXT HALE90 750W Power Supply Unit Review

To take a look at this PSU is like a breath of fresh air! This PSU breaks away from the generic ‘black box’ appearance that we see on the vast majority of units and offers something completely different. The HALE90 features a black and white colour scheme that would look fantastic in a case such as the white NZXT Phantom, but also in all-black cases to add some contrast making your case look more interesting.

On the side of the unit is a sticker featuring the specifications for the rails which are always important to know. The label is reasonably well designed and sticks the the colour scheme so that it doesn’t ruin the looks of the PSU.

On the top and other side NZXT has stuck to a nice clean finish with just the NZXT logo subtly stamped into the metal which is orientated so that if you decide to install the unit with the fan facing upwards. Given the option, I would rather install the PSU ‘upside down’ as you get to see the fantastic looking clean side rather than a sticker, plus you are able to clearly see the fan which adds to the aesthetics greatly. This only applies, of course, if you have a windowed chassis. Notice the use of black screws to continue the black and white colour scheme by maintaining a high contrast appearence.

The bottom of the unit houses the fan which is itself white and is covered by a black fan grill. Personally, I think this looks fantastic. The black of the grill really compliments the rest of the unit and gives it a really nice look, especially with the shiny NZXT logo in the centre.

The front of the unit houses the modular connectors. Not much to see here apart from that the connectors are black, which sounds simple enough, but you’ll be surprised how many PSUs I’ve seen that have connections that really stand out and look ridiculous such as luminous green on a black PSU. Also, all the sockets are the same so they look neat and is even easier to configure.
