The drive resembles the original Vertex 3 as it looks pretty much identical with a black design and sticker taking up the majority of the drive. The only difference with this drive compared to the Vertex 3, is the Max IOPS branding.
Turning the drive over to look at the underside, we find a large sticker and barcode sticker taking up most of the drive. The capacity and interface are clearly printed upon the sticker, and the full model number.
The layout on the side is typical of what we find on any Solid State Drive with the correct spacing to fit into the included bracket.On the side we find two screws which hold the casing of the drive together, and two mounting screw points. This is the same on the opposite side as well.
The SATA data and power connectors are offset on the drive, making it conform to the relevant standards if wanting to use this drive within a laptop or docking type connector.
Taking a look inside, we find the SandForce SF-2281 controller at the heart of the drive, with four Toshiba Toggle Flash memory chips. There is also room for another four memory flash chips, showing us that this particular PCB is used on the larger capacity models too.
Looking at the other side, we find another 4 Toshiba flash chips, with another space for an additional four.
