Blizzard’s Overwatch became an incredibly popular game even before it was released in its final form, as over 9 million players tried it out in its open beta phase. Now that the game has finally been launched, we’re hearing reports that it might even receive a story mode in the future, which would definitely be great considering how awesome Blizzard’s stories are. However, a much more recent update will actually arrive in mid to late June, and it will add a Ranked Play mode for those of you who want to test your mettle against the world’s most competitive gamers. The news was revealed during a recent Facebook Q&A session, in which Lead game designer Jeff Kaplan wanted to assure us of the feature’s arrival.
It’s also worth noting that ranked play was originally a part of the game, but it was removed when Blizzard found out that it would sometimes pit low-skilled players against higher-skilled players. Even though this is undoubtedly a serious issue, it shouldn’t be too difficult to fix, which is probably why we’re looking at such an early release date for this new Overwatch mode.
