Palworld’s PS5 Version Removed From Tokyo Game Show Amid Nintendo Lawsuit

Palworld, the popular creature-collecting game developed by Pocketpair, has faced a sudden setback as its PS5 version was removed from the Tokyo Game Show (TGS) exhibitor list. The removal coincided with Nintendo filing a lawsuit against Pocketpair, accusing them of patent infringement related to The Pokémon Company’s designs.

The TGS list, which was published on September 11, 2024, initially included Palworld. However, on the same day the lawsuit was made public, the game was taken off the list, raising questions about the connection between the two events.

Pocketpair Respond to Lawsuit Claims

Pocketpair responded to the lawsuit, expressing that they are unaware of the specific patents they are accused of violating and have started legal investigations. Despite the game’s removal from the official TGS list, Pocketpair hinted that Palworld might still be showcased at the event, indicating that the removal could have been a mistake or unrelated to the lawsuit.

The outcome of this legal battle and its impact on Palworld’s future appearances is yet to be seen. At the moment, both the developers and the Tokyo Game Show organizers have not provided further clarification on the situation.
