PNY XLR8 Gaming EPIC-X RGB 32GB 3600MHz DDR4 Memory Review

A Closer Look

The XLR8 memory looks pretty great from the moment you take it out of the box. PNY has given it a matte black finish that doesn’t draw too much attention, but it’ll also blend in easily with any PC build. Furthermore, it’ll provide a really dark and natural background for those RGB lightbars.

The heat spreaders have a nice weight to them, and they’re slightly larger than the PCB, but not so big that they’ll cause many compatibility issues.

The matte black finish has been given a little flair with a range of ridges in a large V shape on each side of the heat spreader.

Plus, the matte black finish is nicely matched with a black PCB; not we see many of the older blue/green PCBs these days, of course.

The light bar on the top is nice and large, with a thick spin that also has a good surface area on the sides, so it should throw out lots of light when they’re powered up.

Plus, they’ve kept the branding minimal too, with just the XLR8 texted on the spine of each module.

I quite like the XLR8 logo on the side too, it’s not too large, and looks presentable enough.

If you look closer, you can see there are no truly straight lines on the spine either. Instead, it swells in width at the ends, middle point, and sides, making it look like a very stretched out diamond shape.

The RGB is nicely done, with the spine diffusing the light, but still giving defined colours and smooth blending.
