With the fans installed the monster grows a bit more in size but since the fans are installed into “free space” they don’t create any compatibility issues.
As you can see the space in the middle is rapidly filled by the 140mm fans we used.
The backplate features some threaded inserts that have to be correctly aligned and held in place by some rubber rings before screwing in the stand-offs.
The stand-offs that you screw into the backplate have insulating spacers to prevent electric conduction.
Installation is similar to the Prolimatech Black Megahalems except you have slightly smaller locking nuts to prevent conflict with the Genesis heat pipes and also the brackets align different because of the way the Genesis faces.
RAM clearance is a no go – high profile RAM modules like the Trident X simply get forced inside the Genesis heatsink which isn’t operational. We’d say normal height or slightly above normal height modules only. The G.Skill Trident X modules were about 1cm too high while the Kingston Hyper X Blue modules fit just fine which some space to spare.
To install the heatsink you screw it to the brackets which are all nicely powder-coated with a black finish.
Installed in the system the Prolimatech Genesis is just a beast and it easily overhangs an ATX sized motherboard by about 2cm, this makes plugging the motherboard’s 24 pin connector in somewhat challenging.
