PS3 Emulator ‘RPCS3’ Shown Running Metal Slug 3 & Retro City Rampage

It would take a madman to want to emulate the PlayStation 3, not because no one wants an emulator, but because of the consoles nightmarish hardware. Emulating the primary systems of the PlayStation 3 is far from easy, but that hasn’t stopped people from trying and after many years of trouble, things are finally starting to spring to life in the world of PS3 emulation!

The video below has been uploaded to YouTube, showing use ‘Zengetsu‘ running the work in progress emulator RPCS3, one of several emulators currently in development. What’s incredible is that RPCS3 is running Metal Slug 3 at almost 60fps, with the audio perfectly synced. This might not seem like a big deal, nor is it the most demanding game ever, but this is a huge leap in the right direction to getting more titles up and running on the emulator.

There are a few less demanding games running now, such as Retro City Rampage, and no doubt, the flood gates are now open for people to try more, fine tune, and hopefully get even more running.

What games would you love to see working on RPCS3? Let us know in the comments section below.
