Razer BlackShark Battlefield 3 Edition PC Gaming Headset Review

Whilst we don’t normally spend much time on the packing, we must tip our hats at the quality and the details that Razer go through to produce some amazing packaging.

First off the front of the box is styled very similar to Battlefield 3 – which we would expect. The front is relatively plain, except for the graphic of the BlackShark and a small box featuring the exclusive Battlefield 3 Dog-tag you get with the headset. The left side of the box goes into more detail about the various features to expect from the BlackSharks.

The rear of the box gives you a run-down of the physical features, labelling them against a diagram of the headset. Below that is various translations of the spec. The right side of the box (left in the photo), has the Battlefield 3 graphic and a brief bit of info on the game.

When the box is removed from the sleeve, you are left with a plain black box, with some UV spot (gloss finish) BlackShark text and Razer logo.

Inside the box, you are presented with the headset and it’s accessories, all snug in a protective foam material with cutouts. So far the whole product reeks of quality, and going this far just goes to show how much effort Razer put into their products – you’ll have to excuse the small bolt we hadn’t noticed had fallen off in the bottom right corner as this was our doing when we got them out to photograph.

On top of the headset the box contains the usual manual and info on Razer, although this time you also get an exclusive code to redeem on Origin for your own Razer branded Dog-tag. You also get a cable that converts the in-line mic and headphone jack to individual jacks. There is also a small metal cap that can be fitted onto the headset when the mic has been detached – more on this later.
