Straight out of the box you can see that they are heavily styled towards military aviator headsets. The exposed metal not only looks simple, but gives it a durable, quality look and feel to it as nowadays most gaming headsets are made of plastic. This bare look combined with orange details really does make the headset stand out from it’s competition and fits perfectly in line with the Battlefield 3 branding.
A close up on some of the metal frame with exposed orange cables. The level of detail is immense in the BlackSharks, definitely something you have to see in person to admire the quality.
The ear cups have leatherette covered foam padding that eliminates any background noise enabling you to focus on the in-game sounds. Razer have thoughtfully not gone over the top with the bright orange and have just stuck to simple highlights as you can see in the centre of the ear cup.
As this particular headset is Battlefield 3 branded, Razer have printed the game across the top of the leatherette headband and used orange stitching to hold it together.
The mic is set upon a metal boom that can rotate 180 degrees if you wish to use the mic on the left side (you’d have to swap the speakers around though). The mic is covered in a foam material just like you’d see in military headsets.
The mic can also be removed when not it use and a small metal cover can be used to cover the hole.
Overall the headset is styled very well and we are thoroughly impressed with it.
