Music

Onto the most important part of the review, the sound quality! When I first used them, I was very impressed with the range on the speakers, though the overall sound was a bit flat. I attributed this however to the fact that the EQ was indeed flat as I had not touched it yet. Upon tweaking the EQ to the setup I like, with a high bass, high treble and mid midsections , the sound was absolutely fantastic. Listening to music I could hear bass tones and layers that I had never heard before. The sound is incredibly crisp and the drivers really do feel like they transfer a lot of power into your ears.

Gaming

I tested the headset with a selection of games. Left 4 Dead 2, Splinter cell : Conviction and the partner game Star Wars: The Old Republic. The headset performs extremely well, letting you hear the smallest detail in the sound and really immersing you in the game play. It provides subtle enough sound to let you hear a rustle in the breeze, then the next second makes you feel like your head is shaking as it powers the sound of an engine going overhead into your ears.

Before I tried the headset, I was sceptical about the efficiency of the virtual 7.1, not entirely seeing how you could make surround sound from essentially stereo speakers. Upon using it however, there is definitely a difference between using a standard stereo headset and the SW:TOR headset. The perception of direction is not as strong as a true 7.1 set but you can definitely tell from what direction sounds are coming from, whether it is behind you or in front.

Mic

I have used the mic in a few situations, mainly in Skype and for voice chat in games. Having asked my friends what the quality is like, they have all stated the sound quality is very clear and the only bad thing I have been told is from one person that described my voice as being slightly ‘tinny’, although I think that may have been their own audio setup.
