Reeven Kelveros (RC-1202) CPU Cooler Review

The Reeven Kelveros (RC-1202) CPU cooler will come to market for £34.99 and is currently only available from Quiet PC in Europe and the UK.

If we set aside the price for a while, we can see that the Reeven Kelveros is a quality product and is a solid buy for anyone who wants something classy-looking to add to their gaming system. It’s a particularly awesome buy if you’re looking to coordinate your system with a yellow colour scheme or if you want to see that awesome batman-style CPU cooler through your side panel window. The CPU cooler proved capable of dealing with Ivy Bridge at stock speeds with excellent temperatures and noise output, so it is ideal for people with locked processors or those with only mild overclocks. When you factor in hefty overclocks the temperatures start to falter a tad, but they weren’t reaching dangerous levels – low 80s at the most. Noise was more troublesome but with the low switch enabled it was acceptable.

Now when you consider all this costs £34.99 the reality starts to hit home. You don’t get much performance for your money, and you also get way too much noise considering the performance level and price point. If I wanted to see this cooler priced well, so that consumers might value it as a good buy, I’d say the price needs to drop to at least £27.99. With its current pricing this product is mediocre in terms of value for money, its difficult to give it an award because we just don’t think its deserving enough.

The positives we can take from this is that this product isn’t awful, it does a good job in most cases but it just can’t keep up with the competition. The best analogy I can think of for this is its much like taking a Bulldozer gaming system which gives 75 Frames Per Second (FPS) and comparing it to a Sandy Bridge gaming system that gives 115 FPS – the difference in performance is big but the difference on the user experience is almost non-existent.

Reeven have made a good entrance into a very competitive market and although their first wave of products are far from perfect, they are still valiant efforts. We hope that Reeven takes feedback on board and that the first wave of products are just a spring-board to better things.
