Performance

Installation of the mouse was as simple as plug and play, all the major features worked easy enough out of the box, including the DPI toggle. The software was easy enough to download from the Roccat website and upon installing the software automatically updated the firmware of the mouse.

The software is incredibly thorough in terms of customisation options, it looks a little daunting at first but it’s all clearly labelled and there are plenty of easy to use sliders to help you customise everything to your liking.

All the buttons on the mouse can be fully configured, remapped or have macros applied to them, you can then also set a key to be a shift button, allowing you to access a 2nd level of commands on every other button.

The Roccat logo on the mouse is LED back lit, this can be customised extensively with lighting effects and different colours.

The lighting effect is really bright on its maximum setting and the colours really pop out, but you can of course disable the lighting if you don’t want it.

The mouse also comes fitted with an achievement system, while this may seem silly in some respects it is also a great way of tracking what aspects of your mouse you use the most, or don’t use at all, allowing you to better configure your settings in the future.

In game performance was exactly what I was expecting from this mouse, absolutely flawless. A few simple tests for acceleration, angle snapping / prediction came up empty, the sensor tracks so nice that you’ve only yourself to blame when you miss your next headshot. Lift off hight is just under 2mm, this maybe a little high for some that use a lift-off technique but it’s still pretty low in general.

The macro functions and remappable keys are going to prove popular with MMO fans and since I’m lucky enough to own a Roccat keyboard I can set macros on either the keyboard or the mouse that combine the controls and buttons presses of both thanks to the Roccat Talk software.

Day to day use is a joy with this mouse, again putting the shortcuts to great use in Photoshop is a good way to boost productivity, but the reliable sensor is also a joy to use when editing images.
