As if there was some kind of size war going on in the living room, the Gamestick is setting its targets on the Ouyas audience, by being smaller, cheaper and well… that’s about it really because its certainly not as powerful as the Ouya.
Yet the Gamestick does have a couple of tricks up its sleeve that could see it succeed, aside from the fact that it too also blasted through its Kickstarter goals and will be coming to market as a result. The first is that it connected with an HDMI Dongle that tucks into the back of its controller, this makes it extremely portable. It can also be controlled using your mobile phone as a touch interface and even though it features Android OS you can control it with iOS, which goes a long way to not alienating a large proportion of the mobile market.
It’s lack of power is going to be an issue when the Ouya gets into its stride, but a low launch price, simple and easy to understand hardware and a good game library could make this the perfect little console that you can take anywhere with ease.
