A product sheet for an upcoming Asus motherboard has leaked the specifications for AMD’s Ryzen 3 1200 CPU. According to the listing for the Asus ROG Crosshair VI Hero motherboard, the Ryzen 3 1200 features a 3.1GHz clock, L3 cache of 8MB, and 65W TDP.
Asus’ motherboard snafu isn’t the first Ryzen 3-related leak this year. Last month, ASRock made the exact same mistake. The support page for ASRock’s AB350M-HDV motherboard featured a listing for Ryzen 3. It revealed the CPU has a 3.1GHz clock and 65W TDP. Sounds familiar? One difference between the two leaks, though, is the cache: ASRock lists it as 2MB, which we noted as being particularly low at the time. The number could refer to L2 cache, though.
Not much, unfortunately. AMD’s Ryzen 3 CPUs are quad-core, four thread processors without SMT (hyperthreading). The processor family, which is expected to rival Intel’s i3 line, is due for release during the second-half of 2017.
We could be treated to more details about Ryzen 3 sooner than we think. Later today, AMD will discuss its future products at a special event at its Sunnyvale campus. Vega, Navi, and Zen 2 will take centre stage, but Ryzen 3 – along with the company’s Raven Ridge APUs – may get a cursory mention.
