Sabrent Rocket Nano 2TB M.2 2242 NVMe SSD Review

Pricing and Final Thoughts

The Sabrent Rocket Nano 2TB can be yours for £267.29 in the UK and $279.99 in the US. That’s not as cheap as the 2280 modules, but it’s also a pretty unique drive with such a large capacity in such a small size.

Final Thought

The Rocket Nano from Sabrent is a drive which is a little different from what I usually review. The small size is what sets it apart and that’s both a bonus and a little drawback. The bonus is that it will fit in smaller systems such as SFF and very small notebooks as long as they support double-sided modules. The 2242 size makes it about half the size of a traditional 2280 module, but it still packs 2TB of capacity. That’s impressive. The little drawback is that it doesn’t feature a DRAM buffer which makes a little slower than the drives which have such a buffer. But still, even without that, it delivers great performance. Especially when you consider that it isn’t much bigger than an SD card.

As always, you also get a free copy of Acronis True Image with the drive which is a bonus in my book. You also get an impressive 5-year warranty on the drive if you register it. Both are added value-bonus to an already impressive drive

Should I Purchase One?

If you need a lot of capacity in a very small system which doesn’t support 2280 modules, then it’s a definite yes. Being able to pack 2TB of capacity into such tight spaces is an amazing feature which can make a huge difference.

Pros

  • Tiny form factor, yet up to 2TB capacity
  • Acronis True Image cloning software included
  • Good performance, even without DRAM buffer
  • Quality packaging and design

Cons

  • Costs a bit more
  • Double-sided design can create conflicts in some notebooks, check the support manual first.

“I quite like the Sabrent Rocket Nano SSD. Being able to pack 2TB NVMe storage into pretty much any system, no matter the size, is a great feature.”
