Saints Row III PC Review

I feel bad for leaving this game alone for such a long time, I really enjoyed the first Saints Row when it launch early in the Xbox 360 life span, given that the PS2 was still big and San Andreas was the top dog for its time in the free roaming crime genre, Saints Row was the first big high definition game like this that I discovered. I didn’t much enjoy the 2nd game in the series as it felt that it just felt like a bunch of stuff thrown in at random with little thought given to quality.

Saints Row III however seems to have married the two concepts, the graphics and story are top notch as they were in the first, but only aid in serving up the insanity people loved in the 2nd game. Not only have the put all the best parts together but the developers have expanded on them to make a game that I didn’t even expect could exist. There is literally too much here than I could have asked for in a game and its for that reason that you just want to keep playing it.

Now I’m not saying this is the best game ever, but it is easily one of the most entertaining and enjoyable games I have played throughout my gaming career. Its really not going to be to everyone’s taste with its twisted and often immature sense of humour, extensive violence and often in appearance “cartoonish” graphics. For those of you who can see past this outer shell, there is a really solid, rich and engrossing gaming experience to be found and its for that reason I am happy to award it our eTeknix Games Choice Award.

As a child still in my 30's (but not for long), I spend my day combining my love of music and movies with a life-long passion for gaming, from arcade classics and retro consoles to the latest high-end PC and console games. So it's no wonder I write about tech and test the latest hardware while I enjoy my hobbies!
