As the Scythe Big Shuriken 3 is a low-profile cooler, one shouldn’t expect anything too sensational in terms of temperature performance. Comparatively speaking to the other air coolers in our charts, this is probably less than a third of their size!
Despite this, however, the cooler performs more than well enough at stock levels. It does, however, clearly struggle (but not overly concerningly so) when overclocked.
The real highlight is, however, the noise levels. For a low profile cooler, one might except this fan to run insanely quickly and, by proxy, noisily. Quite frankly though, it doesn’t. It keeps temperatures at a very reasonable level and with much less drama than you might expect. Quite frankly, this doesn’t sound like it’s desperate for all the air it can get. In fact, quite the opposite! It’s pretty quiet, composed and ultimately very pleasantly surprising!
