Scythe Fuma 2 CPU Air Cooler Review

Installation

Although the parts are not particularly well organized (largely being contained within a single bag, the installation of the Scythe Fuma 2 is remarkably straight forward.

Although the manual could be better (largely due to it being heavily influenced in language by the Asian market) the diagrams are clear and concise enough for you to easily figure out what you have to do.

The Scythe Fuma 2 design does come with two huge perks. Firstly, the fact that you can install this with the fans still attached. Anyone with experience of these types of coolers will know that the ‘sandwich’ fan installation can be a pain. Particularly if you’re doing this with the motherboard already in the chassis. In addition to this, however, Scythe provides you with a screwdriver that can perfectly ‘slot’ through the cooler to access the mounting points.

Scythe has (thankfully) chosen not to overthink the mounting design and, as such, is pleasantly straight forward to fit on your motherboard. We, far too often, see cooler manufacturers go for an overcomplicated design that, quite frankly, just isn’t necessary.

Overall Thoughts

Larger air coolers can sometimes be more than a little intimidating and additionally, more than a pain to install. Thankfully, Scythe has made some really smart decisions here which actually makes the Fuma 2 a doddle.

From out of the box and onto our test system, this took us no longer than 5-10 minutes to install and for a high-profile twin-fan air cooler, that’s very impressive indeed! We can, therefore, say with more than a little confidence that this should provide any difficult to even the most abject beginner at cooler installations.
