It is very obvious from the front of the retail packaging that the Mugen 3 is a product designed for the Asian market as well as the Western market. The front of the box points out compatibility, key features and gives you a first glimpse of what to expect from the product in terms of aesthetics.
To the right hand side of the box, Scythe detail more about the key features and technologies included with the Mugen 3 Rev.B CPU cooler. The M.A.P.S technology we mentioned earlier, the 120mm Scythe Slip Stream fan, multi-socket mounting bracket and overall product performance all get a mention. Scythe state that this CPU cooler is ideal for silent PCs as well as overclocked systems. We’ll leave our testing to be the judge of that.
The left side of the box helpfully contains an items list so you can check that you got everything you were supposed to receive with the product. The first glimpse at the mounting kit shows a universal backplate with Intel or AMD brackets and then some generic screws and bolts to secure the mount. LGA 2011 mounting is provided through some separate included parts that are different to both the generic Intel and AMD parts. A wrench is provided but you’ll probably only need a screwdriver.
