Seagate Game Drive for PS4 4TB Portable HDD Review

Setup and Connection to the PlayStation 4

The setup and connection of your new Game Drive for PS4 are as easy as any other portable drive. Plug it in and follow the on-screen instructions.

At first, you might get a notification as seen below. Not to worry, that’s normal. It only means that it’s a new drive that hasn’t been initialised yet.

Navigating to your notifications and clicking on it will launch the setup guide. A couple of minutes and we’ll be done with this. Just follow the on-screen guide.

My PlayStation 4 has properly recognised the Game Drive for PS4. Depending on what you already have connected to your console, there might be more items on your list.

Get the Drive Ready

It’s time to get the drive ready, which means that we need to format it. Just hit the button.

Before the formatting starts, there’s a reminder on what you can use the drive for.

Hit format to start the process.

And wait.

Confirm that you’re sure and that you know that all content on the drive will be removed by formatting it.

The PS4 will now format the drive which takes less than a minute.

And that’s it. Our new Game Drive for PS4 is now ready to be used. Now wasn’t that easy?

Using the Game Drive for PS4

My PS4 automatically switched to use the new Game Drive for PS4 as application installation path, but you might need to do it manually. If so, you find those settings under the USB Storage Devices.

We can also view our Storage in general. This page will also show where new applications and games will be installed.

The Application Data Management can also define where your data is saved. Just to mention another place where your new Game Drive for PS4 can be useful.

Time to Game

What’s left is only for me to kick back and enjoy the evening by gaming from my new Game Drive for PS4. I’ve already started downloading the latest PS Plus titles.

I think I’ll start with ONRUSH. I’ve always been favourable towards racing games.

A Final Note

There is one last thing which I can add as a final note on this page. After gaming an entire evening from the drive, I put my hand on it. Just to check how warm it was. To my surprise, it wasn’t warm at all. Sure, it wasn’t cold, but it wasn’t hot either. That’s a great bonus as that easily can happen with portable drives.
