How Much Does it Cost?

Available in three variants, SilentiumPC has confirmed the following prices consumers should expect from retailers:

  • SilentiumPC Fortis 5 (SPC306) / SRP: €41.90 (Model Reviewed)
  • SilentiumPC Fortis 5 Dual Fan (SPC307) / SRP: €48.50
  • SilentiumPC Fortis 5 ARGB (SPC308) / SRP: €52.90

With this in mind, therefore, there is a definite focus on ‘bang for buck’ here with all of the models, even the ‘premium’ ARGB coming at a price that should put too much pressure on your wallet. Admittedly, of the three the dual-fan is perhaps the most interesting proposition, namely in seeing how a second fan could potentially increase the performance seen on the single-fan model we reviewed here. On the whole though, with each coming with a huge 6-year warranty, there appears to be some excellent value for money in this series!

Overview

On the whole, I rather like the SilentiumPC Fortis 5. It’s a relatively small air cooling solution that offers strong levels of performance while barely making a whisper. No, it doesn’t feature anything mind-blowing in terms of aesthetics, but for a sleek no-nonsense style, this wouldn’t look out of place in any kind of system. Lest we forget as well, not everyone likes the occasional vomit-inducing spectacle of eye assaulting ARGB lighting.

This is a competent, high-performance, cooling solution. While it has very little in the way of aesthetic bells and whistles, what is there is certainly nice, and, overall, it creates a solid and potent CPU cooler that somewhat betrays its highly-benign price tag!

Should I Buy One?

The SilentiumPC Fortis 5 is an exceptionally strong CPU cooler that goes about its job diligently, efficiency, and quietly. Aside from the perceived lack of ARGB lighting, there is very little to fault with this product. Its sleek, understated, and stylish aesthetics work well and, as seen in our testing, this definitely manages to uphold its statement as being a ‘high performance’ cooling solution.

Yes, some may find this boring. For me though, it’s a great CPU cooler for those who care more about performance than they do having every colour of the rainbow blazing in their eyes.

Pros

  • Excellent levels of CPU temperature control
  • Whisper quiet acoustics, even when overclocked!
  • A quality design that proves simplicity and style can work in air coolers
  • Easy to install
  • A comparatively huge 6-Year Warranty (not that there’s ever much that can go wrong with an air cooler)

Cons

  • None

Neutral

  • No ARGB lighting. Make of that what you will.
