SilverStone Argon Series AR01 CPU Cooler Review
Stock performance is in a very competitive location considering this is a budget CPU cooler. It is almost identical to the Evercool Venti, which we thought was an exceptional CPU cooler and it beats more expensive options like the Spire TME III and Sapphire Vapor-X.
Acoustics were exceptional. The stock PWM fan span so slowly that it was almost inaudible against the background noise. This goes to show that the SilverStone AR01 could have done much better in the stock testing were the fan profile more aggressive.
Overclocking sees the SilverStone AR01 keeping pace with the mid range CPU coolers. The results are incredibly impressive for a single fan CPU cooler.
And as you can see from the acoustics those results were achieved with relatively little noise. These results are indeed very impressive. The SilverStone AR01 is a quiet and high performance option that blows other mid range coolers like the Respire T20, Respire T40, Shadow Rock TopFlow and GX-7 out of the water.
Product looks good. Cooler color combo with good performance.
And nice review. ;)
At one time I swore by self contained liquid coolers for normal & slight overclocking use but now I’m not so sure. There’s nothing wrong with this one, not even the colour.
It is amazing to see how much a different colored fan makes a simple cooler stand out from the crowd. Well done.
This actually looks very nice. I suppose the large question for me,
though, would be how does it compare to the “Big Daddy” of budget CPU
coolers, the Hyper 212 Evo? I was under the impression that the 412 Slim
and 212 Evo had similar performance, and if that’s the case, then
surely this actually provides similar, if not better, performance than the 212?
Could anyone give me a quick confirm/deny as to the AR01’s performance relating to the 212 Evo?
Hi, I have just got a CM Hyper 212 EVO in I will be testing that in the coming weeks and updating these graphs.
Can’t wait! Looking forward to the comparison of AR01 and 212 EVO. Shopping for a cooler for Haswell build.
I can say that the Zalman CNPS10X Optima beat the CM212 EVO in my testing, I will be publishing the CM 212 EVO review soon ;)
Awesome! Thanks for the update, I’ll be sure to check back regularly. I eagerly await the results, thanks again!
