SilverStone Sugo SG07 Mini-ITX Case Review

A Closer Look – Interior
The first thing that you will notice once the outer casing has been removed is a huge amount of wires, mainly coming from the power supply, but be aware that it only seems like there are hundreds of wires due to the confined space of the case. You will find, that once you delve into the wiring that the cables are quite short, which means that the full-size power supply can be exchanged, but other units will have longer leads whereas this PSU has had shorter wires developed especially for this case.

Other leads that are included are for the front panel including USB, HD or AC97 audio and front panel power switch and LED as well as reset switch which trails from the back of the case and 3 pin fan header.

You will find that on the sturdy metal casing, the brackets have some self-promotion featuring the SilverStone logo.

This logo is embossed into the metal just encase you have a memory lapse and think that you bought a microwave.

We already spoke about the huge 180mm fan which comes supplied with the case, but looking at it in some more detail; it comes inclusive with a dust filter and sits nicely over the major components. The dust filter can easily be removed once the outer casing of the chassis has been removed, it then simply slides out. The fan runs between 700-1200rpm with a sound rating of 18-34dBA which frankly, is quite impressive.

Just next to the gigantic fan is a bracket to house an optical drive and just below this is where hard disk drives can be placed.

Having touched briefly on the power supply, it is worth noting that it’s a full size unit, as opposed to some cases from the likes of Shuttle, that come with a miniature version with a lot less power (generally 250w) and haven’t got an efficiency rating like this PSU has.

The power supply is situated at the front of the case, just below the hard drive cage and features a cable which runs along the top of the case to the power connect which is situated at the back of the case.

The cage on this case one optical drive at the top but also has support for one 3.5” hard drive inside the cage and two 2.5” hard drives below. For a system like this, we’d suggest using SSD’s due to their lower heat emissions, especially as the will be so close to the power supply.
