Speedlink Maxter Headset & Tarios Gaming Mouse Review

How Much Does it Cost?

Right now, the Speedlink Maxter 7.1 Surround Sound USB Gaming Headset is priced at £69.63, down from its MSRP of £79.99. I wouldn’t pay £80 for it myself, but £70 is plenty competitive for what’s on offer. As for the mouse, well that’s just a bit all over, but can be found between £30-40. Overall though, shop around and you can get the pair for £100, which I think is a pretty solid deal for what you get.

Overview

It’s been a little while since I reviewed something from Speedlink, so it was nice to get a couple of products together. I don’t think there’s anything particularly remarkable about either of them, really. However, there’s really nothing wrong with them either. I mean this as a compliment too, I really do. They fit into the market as well as any of the bigger names out there, and within their price range.

Features

You do get a decent amount for your investment from either. They both have braided cables, customisable RGB lighting, they’re both plug-and-play ready, and some software options too. Plus, for what they cost, I think they’re pretty stylish. Speedlink has managed to make its products much more attractive over the years, and I hope to see them continue that trend.

Performance

If you want a powerful and comfortable headset, the Maxter 7.1 is pretty rocking. It’s got a pretty good size and weight to it and feels pretty durable. However, those punchy drivers are the real star, if the volume is your main goal. Overall though, the clarity is excellent, and the vibration drivers work but are pleasantly understated.

As for the mouse, I really can’t fault it. Perhaps the switches on the side could have a little more “snap” to them, but at this price, I’m not going to split hairs with it. It does what you could expect from a product that costs twice as much, so for that, I give it a huge thumbs up.
