A startup consumer technology brand by the name of Dry Studio has today launched its first product on Indiegogo. The Black Diamond 75 is a mechanical keyboard which boasts itself as the first mechanical keyboard with a leaf spring mount.

Dry Studio Black Diamond 75

The Black Diamond 75 is a unique keyboard not only because of the inclusion of a leaf spring mount but also because of its overall design which truly looks like no other. It takes its inspiration from the all-carbon Lamborghini Aventador MANSORY Carbonado which also goes by the name Black Diamond. The board uses a combination of real carbon fibre or anodized silver aluminium and hand-polished PMMA acrylic to create a supercar-like aesthetic whilst also providing strong durability. Overall, this design is not for me and I find it quite garish.

Leaf Spring Mount

The primary selling point of this keyboard is the inclusion of a leaf spring mount. This mount provides a comfortable amount of flex to the typing experience of the keyboard. Aiding the leaf spring mounts is the addition of a 1.6mm hot-swap PCB, FR4 plate, IXPE switch pad, Poron foam and thickened honeycomb silicone pad which all aid the sound quality and the overall typing experience.

Features

The keyboard features a 75% layout and comes equipped with DR Rapid Ice switches co-developed with Gateron. These switches make their debut with this keyboard and feature a 1.0mm actuation travel, a 40gf actuation force and 45gf bottom-out force. These switches use high-quality alloy contact points and offer a lifespan of more than 80 million actuation, they are also able to be bought separately. The board also comes with the option of KTT Wine Red switches with the Mithril bundle.

Topping off these keycaps are double-shot PBT keycaps which are comfortable to the touch and offer great durability, there is also an RGB lighting system providing backlighting for these keys. Further adding comfort is the built-in wrist rest and 7-degree typing angle.

The Keyboard connects wirelessly with a low latency of less than 2 ms when using a 2.4G connection or Bluetooth 5.1. Powering the wireless keyboard is a 5000 mAh battery providing 60 days of battery life in 2.4G mode based upon 8 hours of daily use and RGB disabled, additionally, wireless charging is offered on the Advance variant.
