SteelSeries Arctis 1 Wireless Review

How Much Does it Cost?

The headset is available right now from just about every major retailer. I’ve found it on Amazon and while it’s usually £99.99, it’s currently just £73.99. What’s more, Amazon is even showing it available for same-day delivery here in the UK, so basically, it’s a great price and extremely easy to get one.

Don’t beat yourself up if you miss the deal price, £99 is great value for what this headset is offering.

Overview

I’m not sure how SteelSeries are making money on this one, maybe they’re not. It’s basically half the price of the SteelSeries 9X, but still offers much of the same hardware. Yes, the 9 is more premium, but from where I’m sitting, it’s not THAT much more premium than the Arctis 1.

More is More

Despite being more affordable, the SteelSeries Arctis 1 has better connectivity than just about any headset in their range, and than most of their rivals too. I like that it works with the Switch, either via the dock or the handheld format. It works wireless on my phone (via the dongle), it works on Xbox, my PC, and beyond. It’s just nice to have a single headset that can follow all my daily work, media and gaming activities.

Awesome Battery Life

The headset has a 20-hour battery, so as long it’s fully charged, it’s unlikely to go flat mid-game or half way through your next Zoom meeting. Even if you did get a low battery warning, it’s USB C, so it charges super quick and can be charged while you use it too. I just charged it on a USB power bank while playing Borderlands 3 on the Xbox Series X, no low battery was keeping me from my loot!

Should I Buy One?

Class-leading sound quality, flawless wireless performance, versatile wired performance, a detachable ClearCast microphone, and a price that I don’t think you can beat. This is easily one of the most feature packed and versatile headsets on the market today.

As a child still in my 30's (but not for long), I spend my day combining my love of music and movies with a life-long passion for gaming, from arcade classics and retro consoles to the latest high-end PC and console games. So it's no wonder I write about tech and test the latest hardware while I enjoy my hobbies!
