SureFire Hawk Claw Mouse & Silent Flight Mouse Pad Review

How Much Does it Cost?

The SureFire Hawk Claw Mouse & Silent Flight Mouse Pad are an absolute bargain to be honest. The mouse its self costs just £16.50, and that’s getting into pocket money territory really. The economy is buggered enough right now without thinking about £100+ gaming mice, so having affordable options from a well known, decades old brand name is certainly welcome. The mouse mat has an MSRP of £29.99 which is reasonable enough, but it’s actually listed at £12.41 which is a steal, so get it while it’s hot. All in, mouse and pad, £28.91 leaves you enough for a bag of Doritoes to make a mess of both of them while you’re gaming.

Overview

I was sceptical of this mouse, and rightly so, it’s only my job. However, while it’s far from perfect, it’s not without its surprises too. The left side buttons feel weird, they work just fine, so I can’t fault them for that, but they do have too much actuation to them. The LMB and RMB are a little heavy to click, now I like this, but those wanting a fast and light click won’t find it here. it’s also fairly heavy at 140 grams, at least by modern standards, as five years ago this weight would be classed as normal.

The quality is really good overall though, and while not especially advanced, the sensor tracks beautifully. It’s hard to find a bad sensor these days, even cheap ones are made really well, but Surefire chose well for such a cheap mouse. The built-in RGB is excellent too, very vibrant and spanning four zones, so I’m happy with that. Plus, with 7 buttons and a fully programmable design with macros? Well, that’s just awesome. The material choices are great too, easily it looks and feels as good as more expensive mice.

So it’s pretty much averages out as an OK mouse, not bad, not great, but really it’s not like Surefire are trying to fool anyone here. They know it’s not trying to be the best, and that’s reflected in the price. It’s certainly one of the best out there for under £20, and that’s really it’s winning feature. If you’re feeling the pinch on your energy bills and need a mouse, bam, get this, it’s a bargain.

The Silent Flight mat is killer though, it’s as good as any other top-name mat out there, but undercuts them on price. If you want a cool RGB mat, you’ll find this one holds up against the competition with pride.
